This new winery in Oliver is making an impressive impact for the quality of its wines. The 2008 Syrah is a deep purple colour with aromas of damson plum, pepper, raspberry, spice, floral notes and a good chunk of vanillin custardy oak. All good cool climate Syrah expressions. The palate is medium-plus in body, with a nice smooth texture, ripe tannins and flavours of blackberry, raspberry, damson plum, pepper, graphite and a good amount of spice. The oak again shows through but is not excessive. Another good example of what BC can do with Syrah showcasing the elegant side of this excellent grape. RATING: 89 pts
